Earlier this month, The Home Depot Foundation kicked off its sixth annual Celebration of Service program.
In Atlanta, Team Depot volunteers celebrated by repairing the homes of six local veterans in need, including the home of Thomas Redding, who served the in U.S. Army for more than 40 years.
Volunteers transformed Mr. Redding’s back patio, a place where he relaxes and entertains family and other veterans.
“I’m just overwhelmed,” said Mr. Redding after admiring Team Depot’s hard work. “It shows that people still care… and that means a lot.”
U.S. Army veteran and veterans advocate Noah Galloway joined the Team Depot crew at Mr. Redding’s home. For Noah, who lost his left arm and left leg in an IED explosion during his service, the work was particularly meaningful.
“I know that I’m not the only person to go through struggles after serving,” said Noah. “Veterans are extremely powerful and resilient people, and home is extremely important to us. The work that The Home Depot Foundation is doing is helping thousands of veterans have a safe and accessible place to live.”
